New Radiohead Song – A Tribute To A War Veteran

If your live in the UK you will probably be aware of the passing of Harry Patch. Harry was a World War I veteran who fought at the battle of Passchendaele in 1917.

Inspired by an interview with Harry Patch on BBC's Today programme Radiohead's Thom Yorke wrote a tribute to the veteran. Find out more on the interview behind the song, and listen to the song at the BBC website.

Radiohead Back In the Studio

Back in November of 2008 we told you that Radiohead were planning their next album. Well now it's been confirmed by Colin Greenwood through the BBC that the boys are back in the studio working on the new 'Eighth' album.

I must say that it's exciting news and if you get chance visit the BBC link above to read a question/answer session with Colin himself. Let's hope the boys produce, they have a lot to live up to after In Rainbows, which was one of the most acclaimed albums of 2007..

On the deliriously satisfying In Rainbows, Radiohead returns to a more straight-ahead (though subdued) rock sound. Much hubbub has been made about this record's innovative release. Radiohead allowed fans to pay what they wished to download fairly low-resolution tracks from the band's own website. Like so many innovations, it already seems funny both that it was such big news and that someone else of similar stature hadn't done it sooner. Some pundits were appalled that it took awhile to download the tracks if you tried to do it at the same time as thousands of other people, while others decried that the group was trying to kill the music industry (or save it). Little of the press seemed to focus on the record itself, which actually made sense because it was so entertaining and inviting, the most low-key album Radiohead has made to date. There's even a very straight-forward, simple, silly little love song, "House of Cards." It might be a bit lethargic, but the simple instrumentation of electric guitars, bass, and drums is lovely as heck. A handful of these tunes enchanted fans for years before finally being committed to computer "tape." This is particularly fitting as In Rainbows is the group's most "band"-sounding album since OK Computer. This is not a record that hits you over the head with how far this group is pushing the envelope; it's simply a phenomenal, well-crafted, and exciting album. Radiohead will be featuring in three more events in August 2009.

Radiohead will be headlining Friday 21st at the Frequency Festival in St Poelten, Austria. See Waste or Frequency for ticket information.

Radiohead plus support will be playing at Vystaviste in Bruselska Cesta, Prague, Czech Republic on Sunday 23rd. At the time of writing tickets were still available from ticketpro.cz

OK Computer (Collector’s Edition)

Originally released in 1997 the album OK Computer has now been released as a collectors edition. Available as standalone CD's or CD's and DVD.

Rolling Stone described this album as " their richest yet, lurching between guitar freakouts, Gregorian-chant-style vocals and intergalactic synth noise. It was Prog Rock, the Next Generation: panicked, paranoid and product-coded; tranquilized, arena-size and indelible."

The differences between this release and the original are enviromently friendly packaging, a bonus cd, some postcards and a DVD (DVD version only). The bonus CD includes a collection of b-sides and live recordings from the OK Computer singles. The DVD includes three music videos and three live recordings of four songs.

In our opinion this is a great addition to any fans collection if not for just the bonus CD alone. Please feel free to leave your personal reviews and opinions below...

Radiohead Responds To Miley Cyrus Snubbing At Grammy Awards

In response to the claimed snubbing of Miley Cyrus by Radiohead at the Grammys, a statement was issued stating " When Miley grows up, she'll learn not to have such a sense of entitlement". This turns out was not the actual response by Radiohead themselves, but their publicist who was offended for them and thinking out loud.

Radiohead's Thom Yorke though seemed to indirectly refer to the incident on their blog, stating "Wish us all a safe journey if you still like us and you're not one of those people i have managed to offend by doing nothing xx".

That says it all, end of story.

Radiohead Grammy Rehearsal Video For 15 Step

A video of Radiohead and the USC Trojan Marching Band rehearsing 15 Step at the Grammys stage, has recently been released. The almost nine-minute footage was videotaped by members of the USC, where behind the scenes showed Thom Yorke dancing around and giving instructions to the marching band.

Radiohead Snubbed Miley Cyrus, Kanye West … Anyone Else?

Yes you heard it, Radiohead has been doing a little snubbing of late. First supposedly to Kanye West and now Miley Cyrus claims she too had been snubbed. Surprisingly all this took place at the 2009 Grammys.

According to Miley Cyrus' interview at a Portland radio station, her manager approached Thom Yorke and Radiohead saying 'Miley, she's really obsessed and she'd really like to meet them,' for which they replied "We don't really do that". Then she continued to say on the radio station's syndicated Johnjay and Rich Show, “Stinkin’ Radiohead. I’m gonna ruin them. I’m gonna tell everyone." The wrath of a teen superstar who doesn't accept rejection.

Those who are true fans of Radiohead know that they are all about the music, they don't follow the "norm" and certainly don't put themselves out there for celebrity drama. Call them simply shy, standoffish or whatever you may, they break music boundaries doing things their own way.

What is your opinion? Who is in the wrong? Radiohead? Miley Cyrus? Kanye West? Or us for even bothering to post this?

One thing for sure Radiohead's been getting a lot of publicity lately and that may not be a bad thing afterall.
