The real reason for Radiohead not playing in Glastonbury -UPDATED

The organizers of Glastonbury Festival said that Radiohead won’t play in this year Glastonbury because they had other plans for that period! Thom Yorke, while being in Brussels for his Big Ask Europe campaign revealed that the real reason for not playing in Glastonbury was the fact that public transport is not an option for going to the festival!

According to AtEase Thom told : “What we’re trying to do now is only play in areas that have a public transport infrastructure in place. So that rules out Glastonbury for this year. Maybe we can work out a plan for the future. They’re probably sick of the sight of us anyway“. He added: “One of the interesting things we discovered is how people get to our big shows. A lot of the time people are driving with one or two people in a car and that’s an ecological disaster“.

 UPDATE: On March 12 Thom made a statement to make things clear. According to his statement his sayings were  taken out of context: Here is what Thom said in Dead Air Space: “the last thing i did was talk to a UK newspaper called the SUn, which is owned by one of my least favourite people Rupert Murdoch. In the course of the interview i mentioned that we had a carbon footprint study commisioned and the biggest shock was the significance of the all travel to the show by the audience“.  He added: “I also mentioned that we were not playing Glastonbury this year but were doing our own shows in London.Not because of transport issues but because the festival goers at Glastonbury were more than likely sick of the sight of us.. it felt a little early to be doing it again, we felt as if we had only just played there.unfortunately, as is the way with such newspapers my words were taken out of context and implied we were not playing Glastonbury because there was no public transport infrastructure. well that’s bollocks.but these things spread.i have been talking to the Eavis’s about this and apologised for any misunderstanding and they are totally cool with it.“
