On the deliriously satisfying In Rainbows, Radiohead returns to a more straight-ahead (though subdued) rock sound. Much hubbub has been made about this record's innovative release. Radiohead allowed fans to pay what they wished to download fairly low-resolution tracks from the band's own website. Like so many innovations, it already seems funny both that it was such big news and that someone else of similar stature hadn't done it sooner. Some pundits were appalled that it took awhile to download the tracks if you tried to do it at the same time as thousands of other people, while others decried that the group was trying to kill the music industry (or save it). Little of the press seemed to focus on the record itself, which actually made sense because it was so entertaining and inviting, the most low-key album Radiohead has made to date. There's even a very straight-forward, simple, silly little love song, "House of Cards." It might be a bit lethargic, but the simple instrumentation of electric guitars, bass, and drums is lovely as heck. A handful of these tunes enchanted fans for years before finally being committed to computer "tape." This is particularly fitting as In Rainbows is the group's most "band"-sounding album since OK Computer. This is not a record that hits you over the head with how far this group is pushing the envelope; it's simply a phenomenal, well-crafted, and exciting album. Radiohead Shines And Wins Grammy Awards

Before the televised part of the Grammys started, Radiohead won two grammy awards for their album In Rainbows. The awards were for Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Album and Best Alternative Music Album.

The British dominated the Grammys this year with Coldplay taking three awards and Robert Plant (former Led Zepplin frontman) receiving five awards, including Album Of The Year.

Radiohead for the Mercury Prize

It is not a surprise that Radiohead - In Rainbows is one of the strongest nominees for the Mercury prize. 12 albums created in 2007 were chosen from an indepedent panel.

The chairman of the Judges, Simon Frith said: "What is most striking is the continued resilience and flexibility of the album as a way of organizing music-making," and he added "It remains an unrivalled source of musical invention and imagination, a way of linking songs, exploring themes and developing sounds."

Radiohead' In Rainbows will face Led Zeppelin former perfromer Robert Plant's Raising Sand, British Sea Power, Elbow and much more great british artists. The winner will be announcedl live in BBC 2 on September 9

Colin Greenwood almost went deaf

While we are during the break between two legs of the Radiohead In Rainbows Tour, the most important news revealed was Colin Greenwood went deaf during the recording sessions for In Rainbows. This is what Greenwood revealed to his interview for Word. Colin describes this experiance like a "fucking nightmare". The reason for the accident was that what he used the wrong type of headphones!

What Colin Greenwood said

"It came back, mostly," he said. "It doesn't feel like I'm talking to people underwater anymore." and he added "For a few months afterwards I'd be watching the telly and suddenly hear these high-pitched whistling noises as more and more high frequencies came back."Colin be careful! The next time maybe you won't be so lucky!! Hope he is completely healthy now!
