Radiohead for the Mercury Prize

It is not a surprise that Radiohead – In Rainbows is one of the strongest nominees for the Mercury prize. 12 albums created in 2007 were chosen from an indepedent panel.

The chairman of the Judges, Simon Frith said: “What is most striking is the continued resilience and flexibility of the album as a way of organizing music-making,” and he added “It remains an unrivalled source of musical invention and imagination, a way of linking songs, exploring themes and developing sounds.

In Rainbows for the Mojo Honours List 2008

It is not a surprise the fact that In Rainbows is among the nominee albums for the Mojo Honours List 2008. The popular music magazine has also choosen four more candidates: Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – Dig Lazarus Dig, Arctic Monkeys – Favorite Worst Nightmare, Duffy – Rockferry and Robert Plant and Alison Krauss – Raising Sand.

The magazine readers and visitors of Mojo4music.com vote to choose the 2008 nominees. The winners will be announced on June 16 at the Brewery, Chiswell Street, London. Except for the best album awards there will also be The Mojo Les Paul Award, The Mojo Hall Of Fame Award, The Mojo Icon etc.
